All God's Creatures Sunday

Cows with Hats
They were all wearing them except the one to the left.
Any guesses as to why?

For lunch today, we went to Mikeskas Famous BBQ. After all, we are in Texas, the capitol of BBQ. Inside was full of stuffed animals...literally, a hundred of them.

I don't know if this woman realized what we saw when we looked in her direction. :)

  1. I have no clue what the cow hats are for!

  2. I'd love to know what the 'hats' are for. Could it be something to do with their throats? Pauline of Pauline's Paddock might know - she's from farming. I'll ask her.

The juxtaposition of the bear and the woman is great. So amusing!

  3. Lisa. I asked Pauline. Her reply:

I notice the one without the hat has cut off horns and the others are sharp. I think it’s something they put on the cattle they use in rodeos for roping events but the cattle look a bit skinny. Maybe they keep them lean to keep them faster and make them harder to rope. Maybe the headgear is to protect the cattle from rodeo cruelty.

Either that or there are a lot of cattle in that paddock with ear ache!

Hold on....I got curious. Go to Google Images and enter rodeo cattle roping nz and lo and behold, yes, they put those headgear on the cattle here too for cattle roping.

  4. Wow, that would have been the LAST thing I guessed! Thanks for checking GB!
When we drove by the cows this morning, there was a donkey in the enclosure as well. He actually hee-hawed as we drove by. Made me laugh!
