Hello Spring!

Have only seen three baby ducks so far. However, there is a whole lot of twitterpation goin' on! Mama Goose is still sitting. She only gets up and down off the little island to stretch and bathe once, maybe twice a day. We leave here on Monday, so I'm not sure if we'll get to see the goslings or not.

Menifee

We're in Menifee, CA right now. Yes, we were here around Christmas time and enjoyed our stay very much. Enough to come back (never mind that it's an hour and a half from Brycie). This is like a fantasy land. Like a Disney movie. Mostly because of all the ducks, geese, herons, and other birds flying around all the time. Here's a few pics from our stay this time.

Mama Canada goose nesting.
What a perfect spot to sit on eggs, in the middle of the water canal. Looks comfy, right? Papa goose is trolling around keeping guard. I was feeding some other fowl by the motorhome a couple of days ago and wondered why the two geese in front of me were hightailing it away from me. When I turned around, I saw Pops swooping down on those two with his beak open, ready to bite. Unnerved me too.

I posted on facebook the other day the photo of the Night Heron. I just love these guys!
I had mentioned then that anytime you feed any bird outside, these birds will come runnin'. I ended up with 10 of them around me. They are NOT afraid AT ALL. Last evening we had one just sitting next to our chairs, and actually was so comfortable that he fell asleep.

Here's another photo. The brown one in the background is a juvenile. They are also unafraid.

Today is the first day since we've been here that the weather has been almost perfect. Close to 80*. Love it!

Be Here Now

I'm freaked out tonight. I am. I admit it. We've had snakes around before when we lived in AZ. I even had to catch one in the house because Hubby Just. Could. Not. Do. It. I hiked up my big girl panties, threw a towel over him, picked him up and threw him outside. Yes, I threw him.

But last night when a BABY RATTLESNAKE (12 inches) slithered underneath my camping chair, everything changed. Luckily, I had my feet up on the bar below my seat, and I just happened to catch a glimps of his tail disappear underneath me. I won't post a picture of him (you're welcome), although I did grab the phone and snap away.

Gone today is the bravado I felt around the bullsnakes and gartersnakes in Arizona. I'm sure I'll stop high-stepping and cursing settle down eventually when I go outside. We're leaving the area on Sunday, but going to a similar type park.

Be Here Now takes on a whole new meaning for us now.

Promotion People

Yes, you know Hubby wrote a book. It's out there on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Black Opal Books, and who knows where else. But, for me, it's all about how to promote it. He has friends that are authors, and radio people, but he also has friends from back in the day who are Promotion People!

We are worried about over-hyping on facebook and twitter, but as one of our friends, who is a big-time promotion guy (then and now), says, go big or go home.

Okay. We'll do it. We are going for it! Morning shows, interviews, book signings. We are doing it! It's a full-time job. The more we do, the more we realize we need to do.

And then there is everyday reality. A strange combination.

Wow!

Imagine our surpise when we noticed that Kickin' Out The Jams was released five days early on amazon! The e-book and audio book are not up yet, and neither is Barnes and Noble, but they are coming.
Wow. What a ride!
