Thirsty for Joy!

My awesome bloggy buddy, Pam, at Sidewalk Shoes, talked today about finding that one word that she will try to focus on for the next year.  Her word is "JOY."  In her words, It’s about bringing joy, finding joy, making joy, and enjoy.  Everyday I wake up thinking, “How am I going to get/give joy today?”
This is the one word that I long for in my life.  I feel dehydrated in the "joy" department; a pruned-up version of what we all are capable of.  Joy is a gift, to receive, and to give.  I will try to remember that, even if I'm not having a "great" day, I am still able to give someone else joy in some small way.

By the way, I have found BIG TIME JOY in the small amount of time we've been in this RV park!

A little chilly here this morning!

Oh, yes!  I am feeling very joyful!!!

  2. Joy will spring up from within, in the places that you never thought possible, my girl friend. Did you know that one of the meanings to my name is Joyful Spirit? Yes, and at one time, I truly felt it...truly. Since my mother passed on, the Joy has been cloudy...sometimes scarce, but whenever I diligently seek God for it, His Spirit renews that place inside and I bounce again. It's not anything that anyone else can see but something that we feel within ourselves.

{raising a cup full of Joy} "Here's to you, girl".

    Love ya.

  3. What a beautiful post, Lisa!
I found myself becoming more and more joyful, just reading it and scrolling down through the photos!
    ;^)
My search for a theme for the new year has led me to something similar and I am glad to see it underscored here. ;^) It's just like confirmation, because I have chosen "The Bluebird of Happiness." ;^) I have been finding and saving photos of bluebirds...plus saving quotes and sayings about bluebirds...plus listening to songs.
    ;^)
Here is one saying for you today:
"Be like the bluebird who never is blue, For he knows from his upbringing what singing can do."
(Cole Porter---"Be Like the Bluebird" 1934)
    ;^)

  5. Heather, I'm not surprised at the meaning of your name at all! You find that joy because you are looking for it in the right direction. I forget that sometimes. :) Maybe we'll raise that cup of joy when we pull through Vermont!

Cynthia, I'll have to look up the lyrics to that song. I love that line! This is only the second time I've seen a bluebird. Maybe I can get a better picture for you!

Lori, Those woodpeckers have DRAINED that hummer feeder! Between them and the food being frozen solid in the mornings, the hummers don't get much!
