Droning Noise

While we were in Morgan Hill, CA a couple of weeks ago, sitting inside the building on wheels we heard this annoying droning noise for, like, 20 minutes. It sounded like helicopters, but what would they be doing around here where the noisiest things would be those lovely wild gobblers?
First depositing those six men on the tower, then returning with that top piece so they could attach it to the rest of the tower.
After fastening it securely, the helicopter was back to pick them up two at a time.
What a thrill that must be! WooHoo!!! What do you think? Would you do it?

    1. Yes, definitely in my case, age and heights do not get along at all! But that ride must be awesome. Just don't look down! :)

  2. I'd love it! Heights I enjoy - and the feel of the wind and downdraught must be great. (Just don't put me too near deep water - I'm scared stiff of it. I wonder why we each have different fears?)

    1. Having spent most of my life next to the ocean, I really respect it (!), and love it. But imagining flying through the air on the end of that tether was thrilling for me. They must have loved it too, right?

  3. That is so cool that you could actually witness a tower being built! I did a post last year on towers. I loved how they just lined up and had hubby stop so I could take a picture on a drive home. We took the back road and it is pretty desolate. The towers just intrigued me for some reason and I thought how amazing it would be to see them constructed! THANK YOU for the actual picture! WHOOT WHOOT! Hope you are doing well! Are you still traveling?

    1. We are! We spent quite a bit of time around Yellowstone, the Tetons, Mt. Rushmore, and Devil's Tower. It's beautiful country up there! Then on to Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and now back in California.

  4. I wonder why I missed this. Odd. Anyway it reminds me of when they put the transmitter on top of the television mast on the Isle of Lewis back in the '70s. The helicopter was positioning it and somehow it got dropped! That put things back a few months.
